Jamuna water surges on Aricha point

Waters of Jamuna River have soared by 17 cm in last 24 hours on Aricha point in Shivalaya upazila of Manikganj.
Md Faruk Ahmed of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) in Manikganj confirmed the matter around 10:30 am on Sunday (September 20).
Due to upstream rain water, water level in Jamuna River has surged on Aricha point for the last three days. The Jamuna River is flowing 75 cm below danger level despite an increase in water level in last 24 hours, he said.
Moin Uddin, executive engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board in Manikganj, said water level has witnessed an increase at this point due to an increase at Dharala and Teesta point. Basically, upstream rain water contributed to a rise in water level with no fear of flood, he said.
