N’ganj mosque blast: Electrician put on 2-day remand

A Narayanganj court has placed an electrician named Mobarak Hossain on a two-day remand in a case filed over the explosion at Baitus Salat Jame Mosque in Narayanganj.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Kausar Alam passed the order on Sunday (September 20).

Earlier, CID produced the accused before the court seeking 5 days remand. On Saturday (September 19), police arrested him from Pashchim Tolla area.

Narayanganj CID’s additional police super Harun-ur-Rashid said, there was two electric connection in the mosque. One of them was illegal. Mobarak Hossain worked the electric wiring in the mosque.

On September 4, an explosion took place in the mosque, leaving 33 people dead. The explosion happened at Pashchim Talla Baitus Salat Mosque around 8:45 pm after Esha prayers.
