‘Those have increased onion prices to be brought under law’

Commerce Secretary Md Jafar Uddin said those are responsible in increasing onion prices would be brought under the law. Some unpatriotic syndicate traders are responsible for gearing up onion prices in the country.  

He said, “There is no reason to increase onion prices in the country within a day of the news that India has stopped exporting onions. Indian onion has yet not come to our country, even after that onion prices have come down a bit.”

The secretary said this while speaking at view exchange programme at the Circuit House in Manikganj on Wednesday (September 23) afternoon.

Jafar Uddin said, “The government is doing all kinds of work to keep the market of daily necessities including onion stable. The government has adopted a three-year plan on how to make the country export-oriented without importing onion.”

He also said the government will provide all kinds of assistance to the farmers to cultivate onions.
