261 rice mills to be blacklisted

Some 261 rice millers will be blacklisted in Kushia as they failed to supply rice to the food department as per contracts.

Due to sheer negligence of the rice mill owners, the government’s rice procurement target could not be achieved this year.

District food officer Tahsinul Haque confirmed the matter on Friday.

He said a list is being prepared in this regard. The investigation is underway to know the reason behind this. Legal action will be taken against those mills. 

Besides, caution money will be confiscated while, incentives will be cancelled of those rice mills, he added.
