Tk 17 lakh snatched away after blasting bomb

Muggers have snatched away Tk 17 lakh after blasting bomb at broad day light in Jashore. Snatchers also stabbed a man indiscriminately, leaving him seriously injured.

The incident took place in front of UCBL Bank in the twon around 2:00pm on Tuesday (September 29).

According to police and witnesses, Enamul Haque, 25, younger brother of Agamoni Motors’ owner Iqbal Hossain bought the money to deposit to the bank at the noon. Another person named Emon was with him at the moment. Muggers made attack on Enamul, who carried the bag of money, when he came in front of the bank. He opposed the muggers as they were trying to snatched away the bag.  At one stage, they stabbed him on two hands, chest and belly and snatched away the bag. They blasted a bomb when they left the scene. ATM booth of the bank damaged by splinters of the bomb. Locals took seriously injured Enamul to Jashore General Hospital immediately.

Enamul at the hospital said, “I went to the bank to deposit about Tk 17 lakh. Snatchers made attack on me just when I reached in front of the bank.”

Tarek Shams, physician of Emergency Department of the hospital, said, “Stabbing marks were found on Enamul’s hands, chest and belly. He is in critical condition. He was referred to Khulna for advance treatment.”

Tasmim Ahmed, Inspector (Investigation) of Jashore Kotwali Police Station, said, “Officials of RAB and Police have visited the scene. There are more than one CC cameras around the scene. Footages are being collected of the cameras. Police have already started operations to catch the miscreants.”
