Eight fishermen fined for defying Hilsa fishing ban

Mobile courts assisted by River Police have jailed and fined eight fishermen for catching hilsa defying government ban from Jamuna River.
Executive magistrate and assistant commissioner (land) Jewel Ahmed conducted the drive on Monday (October 19).
The fishermen were fined Tk 20,000. During the drive around 19 kilogram of Hilsa fishes were also seized.
Later, the seized fishes were distributed in a local madrasa.
