Child rape case verdict in 7 days: Man sentenced to life term

A Bagerhat court has sentenced Abdul Mannan to life term imprisonment in a 7-year-old child rape case.

The verdict has been announced a week after the case was framed.

District and Sessions Judge of Bagerhat Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Md Nure Alam announced the verdict on Monday.

According to the case statement, the fatherless seven-year-old child used to live with her uncle in the landless shelter project area of Makordon village in Mongla.

On the afternoon of October 3, Abdul Mannan of the same area took the child to his house and raped her. The girl later informed her uncle.

On the same night, the child's uncle filed a case against Abdul Manna with Mongla Police Station. Police arrested Mannan soon after the case.
