Raihan murder: Constable on 5-day remand

A Sylhet court has placed constable Titu Chandra, who arrested over torturing Raihan Ahmed to death in Bandarbazar police outpost of the city, on a five-day remand.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of CMM-1 Md Ziadul Islam passed the order on Tuesday (October 20).

Earlier, constable Titu Chandra was arrested from Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) on Tuesday noon. Later, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Muhidul Islam produced him before the court and sought for a 7-day remand.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Police Bureau Investigation (PBI) Modammad Khaleduzzaman confirmed about the arrest.

Mentionable on the night of October 10, Raihan was taken to Bandarbazar Police outpost. There he was tortured mercilessly, leaving him death while undergoing treatment at Osmani Medical College and Hospital.

On October 11, his wife Tahmina Akter Tanni filed a case with Kotwali Police Station in this connection.
