5,100 metres of Padma Bridge visible after installation of 34th span

5,100 metres (5.1 kilometer) of Padma Bridge has now become visible as the 34th span of the bridge has been installed.

The installation work began at 7.00am and ended at 10:04 am on Sunday (October 25).

The span has been installed on the 7th and 8th pillar of Mawa side of the bridge in Munshiganj.

Confirming the matter, Executive Engineer of the Padma Bridge Project Dewan Abdul Kader said the 34th span has been installed on the designated pillars.

He said, “The 34th gray span of 150 meters length was taken to the pillars from Mawa Kumarbhog Construction Yard in Munshiganj by a floating crane at around 3:30 pm on Saturday (October 24).The installation work began at 7:00am today.”

According to the bridge’s engineering sources, after installation of the 34th span, there are plans to install the 35th span on the 2nd and 3rd pillars on October 30 and the 36th span on November 4. Besides, the bridge secretary has instructed to install all the spans by December 10. Earlier, the 33rd span was installed on October 19.
