Schoolgirl becomes upazila chairperson for an hour

A girl of class-8 on Tuesday (October 27) became a symbolic chairperson of Panchagarh sadar upazila for an hour on the occasion of Daughter’s Day.

She was known as Hasne Hena Mon, ninth-grader of Panchagarh Government Girls’ School and orgnaising secretary of Panchagarh unit of National Children Task Force (NCTF).

Panchagarh sadar upazila chairman Amirul Islam handed over the office to Hasna Hena Mon around 12:00pm on the day for an hour.

At that time, Hasne Hena Mon performed and supervised various official activities of the upazila parishad. She made recommendations to make Panchagarh sadar upazila women-friendly and to prevent violence against women.

Hasne Hena Mon said, “We need to stop violence against women and work for the advancement of women. Everyone should come forward to prevent child marriage.”

Panchagarh upazila parishad chairman Amirul Islam said, “Today’s young generation will one day work for the development of the country. We will work to prevent violence against women to build women-friendly upazila. I will try to implement all recommendations made by Hasne Hena Mon.”

Upazila parishad administrative officer Abdur Rashid, Kamat Kajaldighi union parishad chairman Mazahar Ali, NCTF District Volunteer Maruf Hasan Arif, Women Volunteer Nishat Parveen Nishi and other senior officials of the upazila parishad were present at that time.
