Newly-wed woman commits suicide in Habiganj

A newly married woman allegedly committed suicide by drinking poison at her father’s residence in Shaistaganj upazila of Rangpur.

The deceased was known as Rahima Khatun, 21, daughter of Abus Sobahan, hailed from Sherpur village.

Confirming the matter, Shaistaganj police station (OC) Ajay Chandra Deb said, four days ago the victim got married with a man named Rony in Rangpur.

The victim drank poison today. Later, she was taken to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where duty doctor declared her dead around 4:00pm. The reason behind her suicide is unknown.
