Freedom fighter allegedly beaten to death in Tangail

A freedom fighter named Abdul Latif Khan, 65, has allegedly been beaten to death at a village arbitration at Basail in Tangail.
The incident took place at Matra village of the upazila on Friday (October 30) evening.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Basail Police Station Harunur Rashid confirmed the matter.
Citing locals, the OC said there was a dispute between freedom fighter Latif Khan and neighbor Abu Khan and his sons Pavel and Parvez over fish of two ponds. An arbitration was held in the backyard of local Union Parishad (UP) member Shahjahan Khan's house on Friday afternoon to resolve the issue.
At one stage of the arbitration, some people including Abu Khan, Pavel and Parvez beat Latif Khan and injured him. The locals rescued him and took him to Tangail General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The OC also preparations are going on to file a case and we are trying to arrest the accused.
