Freedom fighter beaten to death: Two arrested in Tangail

Police arrested two people from Tangail, for their alleged involvement with the killing of a freedom fighter named Abdul Latif Khan, 65.
The arrestees are – Liton, 40 and Uzzal, 38.
Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Basail Police Station Harunur Rashid said, showing them arrest in the case, the two accused were produced before the court this noon.
Locals said, there was a dispute between freedom fighter Latif Khan and neighbor Abu Khan and his sons Pavel and Parvez over fish of two ponds. An arbitration was held in the backyard of local Union Parishad (UP) member Shahjahan Khan's house on Friday afternoon to resolve the issue.
At one stage of the arbitration, some people including Abu Khan, Pavel and Parvez beat Latif Khan and injured him. Later, locals rescued him and took him to Tangail General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
