Train-bus collision kills two in Gazipur

Two passengers have been killed and four others injured in a collision between a train and a bus at Kaliakoir in Gazipur, snapping train communications between Dhaka-Rajshahi.

The accident took place around 4.30am on Saturday in Sonakhali Rail Crossing area of the upazila. 

Sub Inspector (SI) of Joydebpur Junction Police Outpost Abdul Mannan confirmed the news.

But train communications resumed at 9.20am after five hours, he also said.

The deceased were identified as Karima Akhter, 35, and Masud Mia, 27.

Citing locals, SI Mannan said the Dhaka-bound Nilsagar Train collided with a bus on the railway line while crossing the Sonakhali rail crossing area.  The injured have been sent to Kaliakoir Upazila Health Complex. The names of the victims could not be identified yet.
