Four ‘militants’ surrender in Sirajganj

Four suspected militants surrendered during a raid of members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at a house at Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj on Friday morning.

Company Commander of RAB-12 Mohammad Mohiuddin Miraj confirmed the news.

Members of the elite force conducted the drive at a tin-shed house in Ukilpara area after cordoning off from early Friday. Later, four people came out from the house and surrendered to RAB around 10.45am.

One of the four militant was identified as Kiron, a suspected regional leader of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), the RAB official said.

A bomb disposal unit reached the spot and started working to locate the bombs inside the houses and diffuse them, he said.

According to sources, RAB members arrested several militants on November 14 from Rajshahi and as per their confessional statement, RAB members conducted the drive there.
