Four Shahjadpur JMB men sent to jail

Four members of the banned militant outfit Jamatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), who surrendered to Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) during a raid at a house in Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur upazila on Friday (Nov 20) morning, have been sent to jail.

Shahid Mahmud Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahjadpur Police Station, confirmed the news on Sunday (Nov 22).

Earlier on Saturday (Nov 21) night, a court in Sirajganj sent the four JMB members to the jail.

The four JMB members are Shamim Hossain alias Kiran, 19, son of Mokhlesur Rahman and regional chief of JMB Santhia upazila unit in Pabna; Naimul Islam, 21, son of Abu Taleb of Pabna; Atiur Rahman, 19, son of Manik Hossain of Dinajpur and Aminul Islam Shanto, 20, son of Bozlur Rahman of Tala upazila in Satkhira.

Three separate cases were filed against them under the Anti-Terrorism Act, Arms Act, and Explosive Substance Act.

Earlier on Friday (Nov20) morning, four suspected members of the banned militant outfit Jamatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) surrendered after Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) raided a house in Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur upazila. During the raid, a bomb disposal unit of RAB entered the house and seized two foreign-made pistols, gun powder, huge bomb making materials, machetes and books promoting extremism from the scene. The elite force said the JMB members identifying themselves as students rented the house several days ago with a plan to hold training exercise there in guise of Tablighi Jamaat.
