3 fined for catching dolphin in Manikganj

A mobile court in Manikganj fined three people for catching a dolphin on Saturday (December 5).

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Airin Aktar fined them Tk30,000.

The accused are – Anwar Hossain, Md. Jalal Uddin and Md. Alam.

Ghior police station Officer-in-Charge Riaz Uddin Ahmed said, using a hook, the three men caught the dolphin weighing 20 kilograms on Friday night (December 4).

On information, the court fined them under Section 37 in The Wild Life (Protection) Act 12.

Later, the dolphin was released into the Padma River.
