12 killed as train hits bus in Joypurhat

At least 12 passengers of a bus were killed after a train hit it at Puranapoil rail gate of Joypurhat sadar upazila early Saturday.
After the accident, the train communications of North Bengal with other parts of the country has remained suspended.
Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner Shariful Islam from the spot said, “At least 10 bodies have been recovered. Injured six people have been sent to hospital. We will investigate the matter”.
Fire service official Sirajul Islam said, “A Rajshahi-bound train from Parbatipur hit a Joypurhat-bound bus from Panchbibi, leaving 10 dead on the spot. ”
Among the six injured, two died at hospital.
Six of the deceased were identified as Mamunur Rashid, bus driver and a resident of Harail village under Joypurhat sadar upazila, Ramjan, son of Manik at Hichmi village, Sarwar Hossain at Atul village of Panchbibi upazila, Arifur Rahman Rabbi, Saju Mia, son of Chakbila village under Akkelpur upazila, and Babu at Bijoykandi village under Raninagar upazila in Naogaon.
