70 homeless families will get beautiful houses in Belabo

At least 70 homeless families are going to get beautiful houses in Belabo upazila in Narsingdi district. These houses will be gifted to the extremely poor, homeless and landless people in different areas of the upazila under the Prime Minister`s Ashrayan Project-2, marking the Mujib Year.

According to the Belabo Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Office, a total of 70 houses will be given, including 30 in Amlab Union, four in Bajnab Union and 36 in Patuli Union.

The government has allocated one lakh 71 thousand taka for the construction of each house. Upazila Nirbahi Officer is supervising the construction works. In the meantime, construction of 10 houses has been completed. Another 25 are under construction. The rest of the houses will be completed by January.  The 70 houses will be handed over to homeless families by March 26.

During visit, it was seen that the construction of beautiful houses on khas land is going on in full swing. There is a separate tubewell and hygienic toilet for each house. The local administration has sent the list of homeless and landless to the concerned department for approval.

Bashir Ahmed, chairman of Amlab Union Parishad, said, 30 houses would be given to the real landless and homeless in his union.

Belabo Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Belal Hossain said the houses will be given to the real landless and homeless people. Construction of some houses has already been completed. The rest will be completed quickly.

Belabo Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shamima Sharmin said we are working as per Prime Minister's directive so that any landless and homeless people does not exclude from the project.
