Quader Mirza wins in Basurhat

Widely discussed Awami League candidate Abdul Quader Mirza has been unofficially elected mayor to Basurhat upazila in Noakhali.

He got 10,738 votes while his nearest contester BNP candidate Kamal Uddin Chowdhury bagged 1,778 votes.

On the other hand, general secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Kompaniganj upazila and independent candidate Mosharraf Hossain got 1,451 votes with the mobile symbol.

For the first time in a festive atmosphere, people cast their votes through Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the municipality.
