Ferry service on Paturia-Daulatdia route halted

Authorities have suspended ferry service on Paturia-Daulatdia river to avoid accidents as the ferry's marking lights became dim in the thick fog.

Md Salam Hossain, Aricha office manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), confirmed the matter around 9:30 am on Sunday (January 17).

The fog started falling in the river area from Saturday evening. Later, at half past one in the night, in the thick fog, the light of the ferry marking lamp became dim. For this reason, the ferry service on the Paturia-Daulatdia route was temporarily suspended to avoid accidents on the route, he said.

Meanwhile, the number of waiting vehicles is increasing in both the ferry terminals of the route due to the suspension of ferry services. Ferry service on the river route will resume after the reduction of thick fog. After that, according to the serial, the waiting vehicles will cross the navigable route, said Salam Hossain.
