CCC polls: Walton’s monitor to be used in 4,886 polling booths

The much-awaited elections to Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) are set to be held tomorrow (January 27).

Voting will be held at 4,886 polling booths in 735 polling stations in 41 wards of the city through the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) where monitor and IPS of local brands Walton Group will be used.

Sending election materials including monitor and IPS of Walton Group to all polling centres have started from Tuesday (January 26) morning.

Returning Officer Mohammad Hasanuzzaman said election materials have been sent to all polling stations amid tight security.

He said the total number of polling stations in Chattogram City Corporation is 735 while the number of polling booths is 4886.

The total number of voters is 19,38,706 including 9,46,673 female and 9,92,033 male voters, he added.  

As many as 735 presiding officers, 4,886 assistant presiding officers and 9,772 polling officers have already been appointed to conduct the elections, he said.

The Election Commission has already appointed 20 judicial magistrates and 14 executive magistrates to conduct the election in a free and fair atmosphere.

Seven candidates for mayoral posts, 172 candidates for 41 wards and 57 candidates for 14 reserved councillor posts are participating in the elections.
