Tense situation prevails in Companiganj after issuing sec 144

A tense situation prevails as Noakhali’s Basurhat Municipal Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza and Mizanur Rahman Badal, former chairman of Companiganj Upazila Parishad and organizing secretary of the Upazila Awami League, have announced counter programmes at the same place.

To void any untoward incidents, local administration issued section 144 in the area on Sunday (February 21) night.

Additional police have been deployed at various places including Basurhat municipal area after announcement of section 144. Police have been patrolling in the town since morning under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Deepak Jyoti Khisa and in the presence of an executive magistrate.

The order signed by Companiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ziaul Haque Mir said, “The order of section 144 will remain in force in the municipal area from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on Monday (February 22). All kinds of meetings and gatherings will be prohibited during this time.
