Youth held for killing mother and dumping body in pond

A youth has been held for killing his mother and throwing the body into water of a pond after filling in a sack in Mirpur of Kushtia. 

Detective Branch (DB) of Police recovered the body from the pond of the upazila’s Dakshinkatdah area on Tuesday (February 23), 28 days after killing.

The deceased was known as Mamtaz Begum, 55, wife of late Fazal Biswas of the area.

DB police on Monday held the deceased’s son Munna, 28, and Rabbi, son of the area’s Yeasin over the incident.

Local union parishad member Amirul Islam Santu said, “Three daughters of the woman got married. Mamtaz along with her son Munna used to live at her home. She had been missing for 28 days. On Tuesday (February 23), police recovered the body from a pond.”

Kushtia DB Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aminul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said, “Why the youth killed his mother would be disclosed in details later”.
