Frantic searching in Ctg jail to trace missing prisoner

Fire Service and Civil Defense personnel have conducted a frantic search inside the Chattogram Central Jail to trace out the missing prisoner Farhad Hossain Rubel.

Jane Alam, deputy assistant director of the Chattogram Fire Service, on Monday (March 8) confirmed that a search was carried out in prison drains and septic tanks in the afternoon. But the missing prisoner could not be found.

In addition, the members of the investigation committee formed in this connection have started investigation in the jail.

According to Fire Service and Civil Defence authorities, two units of fire service entered the jail at 1:30 pm to trace out whether the prisoner was hiding somewhere inside the jail or he was killed and disappeared. Searches were carried out in all possible places including drains and septic tanks.

Prisoner Farhad Hossain Rubel has been missing since Saturday (March 6) morning. A general diary (GD) was filed with Kotwali police station in this connection by the jail authorities.

According to a prison source, Rubel was confined in a punishment ward until he disappeared. He also injuries on the legs in a fighting in the prison. So, he was put on legcuffs. In this situation, he was not able to escape from the jail. So, a search operation is being carried out keeping in mind whether he is hiding somewhere in the jail or someone has killed him.

Meanwhile, senior jail superintendent of Chattogram Central Jail Shafiqul Islam Khan said the committee formed to look into the missing incident of the prisoner has started working at the jail from this afternoon.
