Ferry catches fire in Meghna: Probe body formed

A five-member probe body has been formed over the fire at a ferry in the river Meghna.

The probe body has been asked to submit its report within seven working days.

Md Kamruzzaman, assistant director of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), confirmed the matter.

The fire broke out on the Kalmilata ferry which left for Bhola from Maju Chowdhury Ghat in Lakshmipur early Thursday.

No casualties were reported in this connection although seven trucks which were on the ferry were burnt.
