‘Second wife’ files rape case against Mamunul

Jannat Ara Jharna, ‘second wife’ of former Joint General Secretary of Hefajat-e-Islam Mamunul Haque, has filed a rape case against him.

She filed the case with Sonargaon police station in Narayanganj on Friday. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonargaon Thana Hafizul Islam confirmed the case.

Although Mamunul Haque claimed Jannat to be his second wife, she did not address herself as Mamunul Haque's wife in the case.

Jannat said “She met Mamunul in 2005 through her husband Maulana Shahidul Islam. Being a friend of her husband, Mamunul used to come freely to our house. Before we met Mamunul, we were living happily. Because of Mamunul, our marital life became extremely poisonous. At one stage the divorce took place on the advice of Mamnul.”

She alleged that Mamunul built relation with her alluring about marriage.

Jannat also claimed that Mamunul took her to different hotels and resorts talking about since 2018.
