Extortion case filed against GCC councillor

An extortion case has been filed against 25 people including a ward councillor of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC).

Md Imteaz, manager of a factory, filed the case with Kashimpur Thana on Wednesday evening.

Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police Jakir Hasan confirmed the news.

The accused include GCC Councillor Montaz Uddin Moldal, Awami League leaders Abdul Halim, Md Shahidullah, Abdul Gani and Abul Kashem.

Police has arrested one accused Achim Uddin in the case.

According to the case statement, the accused demanded Tk 25 lakh as extortion to Managing Director of the factory Md Faruk Ahmed.
