Babul Akter sent to jail after end of remand

A Chattogram court has sent former Superintendent of Police (SP) Babul Akter to jail after the five-day remand period ended in the case filed over his wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu murder.
Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Sarwar Jahan sent him to jail on Monday (May 17).
Earlier, Officials of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) produced him before the court as the remand ended.
Babul, however, did not give confessional statement under the section 164 CrPC.
Santosh Kumar Chakma, Inspector of PBI (Chattogram Metro Region), confirmed the matter.
Mentionable, Babul was shown arrested on May 12 after Mitu’s father filed a case in this connection. Later, he was remanded in the case for five days.
