3 missing after trawler capsizes in Bay of Bengal

Three people went missing after a fishing trawler capsized in Laldia area of the Bay of Bengal on Friday (June 18).

The missing fishermen are- Alamgir Hossain, 35, Md Riaz, 20 and Md Kalam, 40.

Coast Guard South Zone media official lieutenant commander M Mehedi Hasan confirmed the matter.

The rescuers managed to recover 21 fishermen from the spot. However, three more people still remain missing.

The coast guard official said, avoiding government direction, carrying 24 fishermen, a trawler named FB Bilkis went to the Bay of Bengal from Barguna district. But the boat sank around 12:00pm due to inclement weather.

Noticing the floating fishermen, a patrol team of coast guard started rescue operations.
