They were returning home hiding in fish drums on truck

A 14-day nationwide strict lockdown launched on July 23 (Friday) to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection across the country. All kinds of transports except emergencies remained suspended during the lockdown. But some people were returning home sitting inside fish drums on a truck to evade the eyes of administration and law enforcement agencies. Police searched the truck, left from Dhaka, at Razendrapur area of Gazipur and found 10 people who were hiding in drums on Friday noon.
Md Belal Hossain, Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (Sadar Zone), said, “Police found them in hiding in fish drums on the Mymensingh-bound truck at at Razendrapur check post. Later, they were released, but legal steps were taken against the truck driver.”
