Mother dies hearing son’s corona infection, father dies over death news

A woman died after hearing that her son had contracted with coronavirus. Later, father died after getting news of the son’s death.

The tragic incident took place at Sodanandapur village under Sadar upazila in Sirajganj.

According to family sources, former Lance Naik Corporal of Army Shahidul Islam, 65, got admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka after being infected with coronavirus last week. His health condition deteriorated as he had been suffering from shortness of breath. Later, he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Hearing the news, his mother Rabeya Begum, 95, had stroke and died on Eid day (July 21). Shahidul Islam also died on Saturday (July 24).

Meanwhile, hearing the news of son, his father Abdul Mannan Siddique, 105, also died of stroke on the same day.

Quoting family members, Khorshed Alam Khalil, local Union Parishad (UP) member, confirmed the matter.

He said, “Father and son were buried at family graveyard on Saturday (July 24) noon after Namaz-e-Janaza.”

When asked about the tragic incident, Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Saiful Islam said, “Police rushed there after being informed over the incident. They deceased were buried at their family graveyard after Janaza.”
