Four of a family die from electrocution

Four members of a family have died from electrocution in Noakhali.

The incident took place at Shilmud village under Sonaimuri upazila of the district around 6:30 pm on Friday (September 17).

The deceased were known as Maulana Abdur Rahim, 55, Yousuf, 48, Sumon, 28, and Jewel, 16.

Bazra union parishad chairman Miron Or Rashid said, “Abdur Rahim came in contact with electricity when he went to his paddy field as there was an live electricity wire in the water of the filed, leaving him seriously injured. Other three also got electrocuted as they went forward to save Abdur Rahim. Later, locals rescued them and took them to Sonaimur Upazila Health Complex duty doctors declared them dead.”

Shaidul Islam, Superintendent of Police (SP) in Noakhali, also confirmed the matter of death from electrocution.
