Schoolgirl abduction video goes viral, one arrested

A video of abducting a schoolgirl has gone viral on social media. The incident took place in Brahmanbaria sadar upazila. 

Police have already arrested one Kawsar Mia, 32, in this connection after the victim’s mother filed a case with Brahmanbaria Police Station on Monday (October 11).

According to victim’s family and police, the SSC student is a resident of mojlishpur union under sadar upazila. However, she resides with her family members in a rented house at Madhyapara of Brahmanbaria town. Jasim Uddin, 25, son of Dhon Mia of Maindya village, has been proposing for love affairs for long days. After school was reopened from coronavirus suspension, he again started to stalk her. At one stage, he also proposed her for marriage. The schoolgirl informed the matter to her family. Family members complained to Jasim’s family. So, he became angry. On Saturday (October 9), he along with his some associates abducted the girl from nearby of her residence. Later, she was released in the night after keeping her confined in a private car all day long. The incident captured by a CC camera of the area.

Later, the girl told the matter to her family. On Monday (October 11), her mother filed a case against five people in this connection.

Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Imranul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said, Jasim’s brother Kawsar was arrested. Others accused will be arrested soon.
