Couple take poison after feud, husband dies

A couple have had poison to kill themselves a family feud between them in Madaripur. 

The incident took place at Pashchim Rajoir village under Rajoir upazila of the district.

Of them, husband Rojib Talulder, 35, has died. He breathed his last at Faridpur Bangabandhu Medical College and Hospital on Saturday (October 16) morning. His wife Laizu Begum, 25, is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Rojib was known as son of Khalil Talukder of the area. He was a night-guard of Upazila Agriculture Office.

According to family and local sources, the couple had a long feud between them. As a sequel to that on Friday night, they locked into altercation again. At one stage, Rojib took some pesticide from a bottle which was at home. Later, Laizu Begum also took the rest of the pesticide of the bottle.

Sensing the incident, locals rushed to the spot and took them to Rajoir Health Complex first. Later, they were taken to the Faridpur Bangabandhu Medical College and Hospital for advance treatment. On Saturday morning, Rojib passed away. Laizu is also in critical state.

The couple had a two-year-old son.

Rajoir Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain confirmed the matter.

He said, “An unnatural death (UD) case was filed in this connection.”
