Begumganj violence: 5000 accused in 18 cases, 90 held

18 cases have been filed in connection with the clashes and attacks on temples and puja mandaps at different places in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali.

Out of the cases, police filed 10 cases, members of damaged puja mandaps filed six cases, owner of worshiping house filed one case and principal of Iskcon temple filed the remaining case.

A total of 285 named and some 4,000 to 5,000 unnamed people have been made accused in those cases.

Md Shahidul Islam, superintendent of Noakhali police, confirmed the matter.

He said, at least 90 people have been arrested so far in those cases.
