Ferry capsize: Rescue operations begin for 2nd day

The salvage operations for RoRo ferry Shah Amanat, which capsized at Paturia Ghat in Manikganj, began on Thursday morning.

The BIWTA salvage vessel Hamza joined another member of its salvage fleet in the morning.

Inspector of Aricha Fire Service Station Md Mujibur Rahman said three units of fire service are working to rescue the ferry.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority’s (BIWTA) RoRo ferry Shah Amanat capsized near Paturia's fifth ferry terminal while preparing to dock on Wednesday morning. It was carrying 14 goods-laden trucks and four motorcycles at the time.
