Uncertainty looms over recovery of 480 tones of ferry

An uncertainty is looming over the recovery of 480 tones of ferry which capsized at Paturia Ghat in Manikganj on Wednesday morning.

The salvage operations for RoRo ferry Shah Amanat began on Thursday morning for the second day.

The BIWTA salvage vessel Hamza joined another member of its salvage fleet in the morning. But it was known that Hamza has a capacity to rescue only 60 tones.

Inspector of Aricha Fire Service Station Md Mujibur Rahman said three units of fire service are working to rescue the ferry.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority’s (BIWTA) RoRo ferry Shah Amanat capsized near Paturia's fifth ferry terminal while preparing to dock on Wednesday morning. It was carrying 14 goods-laden trucks and four motorcycles at the time.
