Councillor, his aid shot dead in Cumilla city

Syed Md. Sohel, a ward councillor (no-17) of Cumilla City Corporation and president of ward unit of Awami League, and  one of his aides, were shot dead by miscreants on Monday afternoon.

Who received bullet injury included Awlad Hossain Riju, 23, Juwel, 40, Rusel, 28, and Majedul Hossain Badal, 30.

Miscreants entered the councillor’s office around 4.00pm and shot them dead.

Eight people received bullet injury in the incident. Among them, seriously injured Awami League worker Horipado Saha was taken to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.

Director of Cumilla Medical College Hospital Dr Md Mohiuddin confirmed the news.

According to local sources, a group of miscreants entered the councillor's office and fired bullets at them. The attackers fled the scene when locals rushed to the spot hearing gunshots.
