Road crash leaves 3 college students dead in Chandpur

A bus of BRTC Paribahan rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Kachua upazila in Chandpur district, leaving three college students dead and two others injured.

The accident took place on Haziganj-Kachua-Gouripur regional road at Karia area on Thursday (November 25) morning.

The deceased were identified as Urmi Mazumder, 24, daughter of Rajkumar from Doati village of Kachua upazila and Rifat, 23, of Koa village, and Saddam, 22, son of Mannan of Nischitpur village and a honours student of Chandpur Government College.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kachua Police Station Md Mohiuddin confirmed the matter.

Quoting locals, the OC said a Dhaka-bound bus of BRTC Paribahan hit the auto-rickshaw from in front, leaving three passengers of the auto-rickshaw—Urmi, Saddam and Rifat-- dead on the spot and two others critically injured.

The injured were taken to Kachua Upazila Health Complex, he said.
