Two ‘robbers’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

Two suspected Rohingya robbers were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Taknaf in Cox's Bazar early Friday.

The incident took place in Domdomia hill area of Hnila union under the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Kefayet Ullah and Korban Ali Prakash alias Angul Kata Shafiq.

Senior Assistant Director of RAB-15 Additional Police Super Md Abu Salam Chowdhury confirmed the news.

RAB also recovered 20,000 yaba pills, two pistols and some bullets from the spot, he also said.

He said RAB members conducted a drive after getting information about the presence of a robber gang along. Sensing their presence of the elite force, robbers opened fire, forcing them to fire back that triggered the gunfight. Later, the bodies of Kefayet Ullah and Korban Ali were recovered from the spot.
