Over 800 vehicles are waiting in queues at Paturia ferry ghat to cross the Padma river.

People using Paturia-Daulatdia ferry route are facing serious trouble triggered by tailbacks on the roads to the ferry terminals for slowed down ferry service.

During visit, the scenario was seen at 1.00pm on Friday.

Officers of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) said the ferry service has slowed down due to lack of number of ferries and navigability problem.

Md Zillur Rahman, DGM of BIWTC in Aricha ferry ghat, said number of vehicles has increased at the ferry ghats.  But the ferry service has slowed down due to lack of number of ferries and navigability problem.

As a result, hundreds of vehicles including bus and trucks are waiting at Daulatdia and Paturia ferry terminals, he said.

About 16 ferries are being operated to carry vehicles through this Paturia-Daulatdia river route, he added.
