AL factional clash kills one in Tangail

A person has been killed in a clash between two local groups of ruling Awami League over establishing dominance in Paikal village of Daptior union under Nagarpur upazila in Tangail.
The deceased was known as Tota Sheikh, 40, son of Akkel member of the village.
Nagarpur upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Sifat-e-Jahan confirmed the matter.
Rafiq Sheikh, a bullet-injured journalist said, “We are family-born supporters of Awami League. Daptoik union BCL former president Saifuddin brought allegations that we didn’t work for the party. An altercation took place centering issue this evening. At one stage, Saifuddin, Sumon, Khaza and Jahangir and their cohorts attacked us with firearms, leaving Bacchu Mandal, Sumon, Kabir and Tota Sheikh bullet-injured.
Later, Tota Sheikh was taken to hospital where he died under treatment.
Nagarpur police station Officer-in-Charge Sarkar Abdullah Al Mamun said police forces were sent to the spot. Details will be disclosed later.
