Two siblings die in Munshiganj fire

The two siblings, who sustained burn injuries in a fire at their house in Char Muktarpur area of Munshiganj’s Sadar upazila early Thursday, have died.

The deceased are Yeasin, 5, and Nohar, 3.

They died on Thursday night while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Their parents Kausar and Shanta are also undergoing treatment there but their condition is critical.

Kausar received 54 percent injuries and mother 48 percent injuries. Their condition is critical, doctors said.

The incident took place early Thursday on the first floor of the building. Titas Gas officials assume the family fell asleep at night after inadvertently turning on the gas stove.

Two firefighting units brought the fire under control with the help of locals, said fire service sources.
