3 children among 4 crushed under train in Nilphamari

Four people, including three children, were crushed under a train while playing near their residence at Bowbazar Manosapara of Kunda Pukur union under Nilphamari Sadar upazila.

The deceased were identified as Rima Akhter, 12; Lima Akhter, 8 and Mominur Rahman, 6, children of a rickshaw puller named Rezwan Ali from the village Bowbazar Manosapara and their neighbour, Shamim Hossain aged 30.

The incident took place around 8 am on Wednesday (December 8).

The three siblings were playing on the rail tracks near their house this morning. They died on the spot after being crushed under Rupsha Express, a rocket mail train coming from Chilahati to Khulna. At that time, their neighbour also died while attempting to save them, according to locals.

The local people intercepted the train soon after the incident.

Later, Mohammed Mokhlesur Rahman, superintendent of Nilphamari police, visited the spot and brought the situation under control around 10 am.

Abdur Rahman Biswas, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bowbazar railway police station, confirmed the matter.
