NU students form human chain in Sirajganj

Students of the National University (NU) formed a human chain in Sirajganj district demanding the authorities to continue the ongoing exams following health and safety protocols.

The students formed the human chain on Sunday (January 23) noon at Shaheed Nazmul Chattar in the district, led by the general students of the university.

Sakib Shakil, a fourth year student of Sirajganj Government College, presided over the human chain. Md Habibor, Md Masum Billah, Badsha Mia from the same college and year, Imran Hossain, Ali Akbar, Sanatan Kumar, Jubayer from Islamia Government College and others, spoke among other students.

The majority of the students from general, middle and lower class families of the country study at the National University. Session jam has become a regular thing at the university. Students of public and private universities are completing their graduation and getting themselves a job while students of the National University are stuck in the middle of the session jam. The quality of education has already deteriorated after the prolonged closure of educational institutions due to the pandemic, said the students.

They added that the educational institutions have been announced closed due to the spread of the infection while shopping centers and the trade fair are running regularly in the country. It leads to the increase of the rate of unemployment in the country. Young people are choosing the path of drug addiction and suicide out of frustration for various reasons.

The students demanded the ongoing exams continue following health and safety protocols without any delay to solve these problems. They also said that they will continue with a stronger protest, if the university authorities do not accept their demand.
