Bus hits auto-rickshaw leaving four dead

At least four people were killed and two others injured as a bus hit an auto-rickshaw in Rangpur.

The incident took place at Nabdiganj on Rangpur-Kurigram highway of the city on Sunday (January 23) evening. 

The casualties could not be identified immediately.

Farid Ahmed Chowdhury, assistant director of Rangpur Divisional Fire Service, said, “A bus from Dhaka hit the auto-rickshaw, leaving three, including its driver, dead on the spot.”

“Being informed, fire fighters rushed the spot. They whisked off three injured to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital where another succumbed to injuries,” he added.

Babul Mia, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Mahiganj Police Station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RnMP), said, “The accident caused vehicle movement suspended for nearly an hour. Later, police made it normal.”
