SUST students end hunger strike

The students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), who were demanding the resignation of their Vice-Chancellor (VC), ended their hunger strike at the request of Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, former professor of the university.

Upon the request of Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, the students ended their hunger strike by drinking water offered by him around 10 am on Wednesday (January 26).

Muhammed Zafar Iqbal arrived at the main gate of the university with his wife, Professor Yasmeen Haque at 3:54 am and entered the campus around 4 am on Wednesday to meet the students on hunger strike and talked to them.

The professor told the students on hunger strike, “Life is very precious, so don’t waste your time because of trivial issues. You have to live. You have already won the battle. People all over the country are with you. Your demands will be met. The system of the universities of Bangladesh will improve with your movement.”

“I had a discussion with the members of a high-level delegation at my residence. They promise that your demands will be met. So, we came here without any delay. I will not leave until you break your fast”, he said.
