21 pedestrians fined in Patuakhali

A mobile court fined 21 pedestrians Tk2,050 for not following health guidelines in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district.

The mobile court was headed by Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jagat Bandhu Mandal around 8 pm on Wednesday (January 26).

The court carried out raids in several parts of the city. During the raids, police members including upazila Chairman Rakibul Ahsan, were also present.

The magistrate said that the court noticed some pedestrians moving without a mask despite several announcements made by the officials of the upazila administration to make people aware of the health guidelines issued to contain coronavirus infections.

The court fined those pedestrians under the Infectious Diseases (Prevention, Control and Eradication) Act, he said.
