Embankment in Jamalpur collapses

Nearly 30 meters of riverbank protection embankment near Islampur Kulkandi Hard Point collapsed till Friday morning due to onrush of hilly water.

Due to onrush of hilly water, the water of the Jamuna river has increased and it is flowing 78cm above the danger level.

Executive Engineer of Jamalpur Water Development Board (WDB) Mohammad Abu Syed confirmed the news.

The situation has been created due to heavy rain in Meghalaya and Assam of India, and we are taking steps due to protect the river embankment, he added.
